Laramie Interfaith would like to invite the community to celebrate the grand opening of its pantry addition!

The Laramie Interfaith board will host a ribbon cutting and open house on June 4, 2022, from 2-4 p.m. at 712 Canby Street. Interfaith Board members will address attendees and give tours of the addition! Cake and root beer floats will be provided. Please come celebrate our special day with us!

The project was partially funded in partnership with the City of Laramie through a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant awarded by the Wyoming Business Council.

The 2,000 sq ft. addition new addition will add 1,500 sq ft. of pantry space and gives Interfaith the capacity to dramatically change the way clients are served, by allowing more choice and dignity in the process of choosing food.

“We are currently planning to implement a new client choice model based on best practices,” said Executive Director Josh Watanabe. “In addition, the extended capacity will allow for more perishable food types to be stored and distributed along with a larger quantity of food in general.”

The addition also includes two new offices, which will be used for case management services such as rental and utility assistance appointments.

Interfaith broke ground on the addition in October 2021, and has faced a long, challenging road to fully realize the project, which was delayed over a year due to COVID complications.

Despite the hurdles, Watanabe credits the Laramie community’s support for making this goal a reality.

“Without the support of hundreds of our residents, we could not have overcome the challenges of COVID and this project at the same time - it would have been impossible,” Watanabe said. “That we did both, with so little interruption to our services, in fact we saw a growth in services provided, is a credit to the dedication of our neighbors to have buoyed us throughout. We are eternally grateful.”
